Somebody needs to give her house a safety check too. Make sure all the electrical outlets are covered with safety plugs, hazardous substances are locked up, etc. Maybe her mother should move in with her.
She treats him like a stuffed animal. She's in definite need of some "keeping baby safe" classes.
