i think the reason why the assistant laugh at her is because the whole scene was set up. i think her whole reaction was an act to make the reality show more entertaining. i mean, there would never be an email telling paula abdul she was fired, shes too famous to be treated like that. there would be a meeting or a phone call. and she wasnt even fired, she is still listed as producer for the movie
Jeez, I almost feel bad watching that. ALMOST. I mean, it sucks to lose a job, but does she honestly think it's because she's being persecuted or God's abandoned her or something? And all these things are a mystery she can't solve? Woooooow. She's really convinced of her own specialness...

I think that's the most evident sign of her insanity. She must watch the episodes before they air. She's just as crazy as a bat.
