I really can't begin to tell you how much I love Paul Reubens. What happened to him and his career is a fucking travesty. But we won't go there right now... Happy Birthday Paul!
Basically what happened to him and his career had to have been bullshit blackmail from someone "up above" on the Hollywood foodchain: he didn't do a hell of a lot worse than many others have, yet he suffered career-wise for it 10-fold. Does that make sense?
BTW, I always dig your sense of "pop culture" (and you obviously are sharp as hell!), would you be interested in joining the team of my political blog ("With Sticks and Stones"?). If so, just lemme know and I'm email an invite. :-) Or I might do it regardless. :-)
It is odd how the porn theatre incident hurt him. I suspect if someone of similar stature were to do that today he would get away with a slap on the wrist, a quick talk show tour and some scathing blog posts and then move on. Were we so much more prudish 15 years ago?
I think most people always viewed him a bit of a pervert/weirdo. Mainstream America couldn't wait to get dirt on him and things were way more conservative 15 years ago.

I'd love to. Thanks.
Pleased you accepted! Feel free to post anytime, as little or often as you wish.

Pee Wee rules. His show is still just as entertaining now (on DVD) as it was years ago when I was a kid.

I love that you love him as much as I do.
