Vatican Newspaper Deems Homer Simpson "A Real Catholic"

The Vatican Newspaper; L'Osservatore Romano states: "Few people know it, and he does everything he can to hide it, but it is true: Homer J Simpson is a Catholic,"

It is not the first time that the Vatican newspaper has praised The Simpsons. Last December, as the television series celebrated its 20th anniversary, the paper said that "the relationship between man and God" is one of its most important themes and that it often mirrored the "religious and spiritual confusion of our times".

Hi Diana,

I’m glad that you posted this today-I didn’t realize that the Vatican had mentioned The Simpsons in the past. I think they made a good point last December in saying that the show does highlight the religious confusion of our times, but I find it so strange that they’ve announced that Homer is Catholic...especially when the producers of the show say that this definitely isn’t true.

I wanted to share a video about the story from the Vatican newspaper that I thought you might like: http://www.newsy.com/videos/pope-homer-simpson-is-catholic/

It’s a combination of clips & quotes from a few different news sources that commented on the article. I hope you’ll consider embedding or linking to it in your post.
