Crikey!
Steve Irwin aka The Crocodile Hunter has apparently died. It's being reported that he died from a sting-ray barb to the chest. There aren't a whole lot of details as of yet but I guess it was just a matter of time considering the line of work he was in.
I did admire his enthusiasm and love of animals.
"Every cent we earn from Crocodile Hunter goes straight back into conservation. Every single cent."

I was stunned when I heard about this. He took so many chances, I guess it was just a matter of time before this happened. His enthusiasm and hard work for the environment will be missed. My thoughts are with his wife and children during this most difficult time.
I can't believe I was shocked about this...considering the line of work. He was still a fairly young man.
Hi D. Prince,
It’s sad and a bit ironic that Steve Irwin should die from a sting ray barb to his chest after years of surrounding himself with wild and vicious animals. I hope “The Discovery Channel” will hold a tribute to his many devil-may-care feats over the years.
We were all shocked - to get stung by a stingray is so rare - 2 in Australia and 17 worldwide.
A real shame. He seemed like such a good natured and fun loving guy.
It is really sad, I never realized how many kids watched his show, mine didn't but there are kids mooping around EVERYWHERE and I'm told Steve Irwin's death is the reason.
Very sad for him and his family. My daughter loves his show. I haven't told her yet.
I did hear that he was a philanthropist with his earnings. It's too bad that this stuff comes out when people are gone rather than highlighted when people are here.
Makes you think.
I thought he was younger though. Its a pity that someone who gave so much was taken away. But life isn't fair is it?
my kids' friends' told them (although they said it was a hornet sting and freaked my girls out, since their Dad has to carry an epi-needle everywhere for just such an occasion). Even with the more accurate information, they're shocked - they feel like they knew the guy. We adults can relate; who doesn't remember when they heard about John Lennon?
Im so sad about this. My little boy said he felt like Super Man died.
That is so sweet Maddie, poor little guy.
It's hard to deal with. He was really a great guy. and you have to keep i mind that although he entertained a lot of kids, it was more than kids, and it was more than enertaining.
I hate to hear of any death, but no one wants to be mourned. rejoice over his life and how much good he did. Trust me when I say that this death will eventually lead to more gain than loss.
Steve Irwin's passing shocked all of us here in Australia, but he accepted the risks and lived his life to the full. What a legacy now. He has brought animal conservation to the attention of the world, and now his widow and children will continue his work. God bless them!
I saw his wife on 20/20 last night and I had tears pouring down during the whole show.
